State Agencies

Lands not under the authority of local air agencies are enforced by the state Department of Ecology. Eastern washington air quality is managed by WA Department of Ecology Eastern Regional Office (ERO) with the exception of Spokane. The ERO currently resides over the following counties, (1) Adams, (2) Asotin, (3) Columbia, (4) Ferry, (5) Franklin, (6) Garfield, (7) Grant, (8) Lincoln, (9) Pend Oreille, (10) Stevens, (11) Walla Wall, and (12) Whitman Counties. The Central Regional Office (CRO) resides over the following counties, (1) Chelan, (2) Douglas, (3) Kittitas, and (4) Okanogan Counties. The contact number for the CRO is 509-575-2490.

WA state Department of Natural Resources influences burn bans based on the fire danger for a particular region or area. Please check their page as well to determine the status of DNR managed lands in your county.

Tribal Lands

Tribal lands are managed by the Tribes themselves because they are sovereign nations. Tribal burn bans can be found on the EPA’s FARR site. The following Tribes currently maintain air quality programs and have a web site for those programs:
